The group’s V album surpassed 1 million copies sold in the week ending July 30, as the set moved another 6,000 (bringing its total just over the million mark). V was released on Sept. 2, 2014, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking the bands second chart-topping album. The set has spawned three top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “Maps” (No. 6 peak on Aug. 9, 2014), “Animals” (No. 3; Nov. 11, 2014) and “Sugar” (No. 2; March 28, 2015). The album was reissued on May 15, adding the new single “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt…” That track peaked at No. 23 on the Hot 100 on June 27.
On the latest Billboard 200 chart, V slips 16-18 in its 48th week on the list.
V is Maroon 5’s fifth album to sell a million copies — and now all five of their studio albums have reached the milestone. Their biggest selling effort remains their 2002 debut, Songs About Jane, which has sold 5.1 million. In total, Maroon 5 has sold 12.9 million albums in the U.S.
