Red Pill Blues is the sixth studio album by Maroon 5. It was released on November 3, 2017, by 222 and Interscope Records. The title of the album refers to the science fiction term of taking the red pill or the blue pill, which originated from the 1999 sci-fi film The Matrix. The album is the follow-up to their fifth studio album V (2014) and features guest appearances from ASAP Rocky, SZA, LunchMoney Lewis and Julia Michaels.
The coaches of The Voice are back and ready to pack a punch!
Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus, and Jennifer Hudson joined the show’s host Carson Daly in a new 1970s action show themed promo to promote the upcoming 13th season of the hit singing competition show.
The new season of The Voice premieres in just a few weeks and the coaches will be joined by musical advisors Billy Ray Cyrus, Kelly Rowland, Joe Jonas, and Rascal Flatts.
Season 13 of The Voice premieres on Monday, September 25 on NBC.
The Voice is back for Season 13, in which Jennifer Hudson joins returning judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and welcomes back Miley Cyrus as celebrity musician coaches, while Carson Daly continues to serve as host. The show’s innovative format features five stages of competition: the first begins with the blind auditions, followed by the battle rounds, the knockouts, the live playoffs and finally, the live performance shows.
Maroon 5 received the Decade Award at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday.
Following a tribute led by Judd Apatow, Levine and James Valentine took the stage together. The frontman said, “Thank you guys. I’m not gonna lie: I’m 38 years old. We look really good for 38. We’re not teens, but the fact that teenagers, all of you, can appreciate what we do after all this time… It’s so crazy that we’re still doing this.” Levine then scared by fans by announcing a final album. “I’m joking. We are never gonna go away,” he promised.
Teen Choice introduced the Decade Award honor last year, with Justin Timberlake as the inaugural Decade Award recipient. It was announced earlier this month that Maroon 5 would be the second honoree to earn the special recognition. Organizers said the band was chosen to celebrate the group’s “evolution over the past 10 years.” Maroon 5 as a music act actually dates back to 1994, when Adam Levine and his pals were known as Kara’s Flowers.
Their debut album as Maroon 5, Songs About Jane, came out in 2002, and led to a Grammy win for Best New Artist in 2005. Their fifth album, appropriately titled V, was released in 2014. The group supported the record with the “Maroon V Tour,” which ran for two years and didn’t end until March 2017. Since then, Levine has been embracing first-time fatherhood (he and wife Behati Prinsloo welcomed daughter Dusty Rose nearly a year ago), while remaining committed to his duties as a coach of “The Voice.” He’ll be back this fall for the NBC music competition’s 13th season, which is set to premiere next month.
Maroon 5 won its first Teen Choice awards in 2004, taking home Choice Breakout Artist and Choice Rock Track for “This Love.” Wins followed in 2012 and 2013 for Choice Break-Up Song (“Payphone”) and Summer Music Star: Group, respectively. Levine also previously won Choice TV: Reality Personality – Male in 2014 for his work on “The Voice.” He was also nominated in that category twice before, in 2011 and 2013. For this year’s ceremony, he and the band earned nominations for Choice Music Group and Choice Pop Song, the latter for “Don’t Wanna Know” with Kendrick Lamar. Hollywood’s biggest stars are fighting against climate change.
Al Gore‘s An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power released a YouTube video Thursday featuring a large group of celebrities leading the #BeInconvenient campaign. The campaign encourages people to share why they are inconvenient for the spread of climate change, by listing the reasons they choose to fight it.
Paul McCartney leads off by saying he’s inconvenient “for the future of the planet” and Bono follows by making a plea for the “poorest of the poor” who are hit first “and the worst by climate change.”
Pharrell Williams asks viewers to “do this together” because we’re not on Mars yet, and Adam Levine makes it personal by saying he fights for his “still-growing family.”
Other celebs like Camila Cabello, The Chainsmokers, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Joe Jonas with DNCE and outspoken activist Shailene Woodley all appear in the short video.
An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is in theaters now.
Joe Jonas is Joining Adam’s Team as a Mentor on Season 13
We now know all of the team mentors for the upcoming season of The Voice, and one in particular may surprise you.
While Miley Cyrus‘ choice of her dad Billy Ray Cyrus is intuitive (and may give her team a country edge), we definitely would not have guessed that Joe Jonas would be serving as a mentor for Adam Levine‘s team!
“He’s a beautiful man,” Adam joked to Entertainment Tonight in a video explaining why he selected him. “No, I love him and I’ve known him for a long time, and now I love him even more. He offers very sound advice and I trust his opinion.”
“Everyone we’ve worked with is really talented,” Joe added.
